Gaming industry launch in Montenegro

The first Montenegrin gaming and esports meetup on December 15th with industry representatives from the region and the world.

The first national event dedicated to the development of video games and electronic sports, Gaming & Esports MeetUp will be held on December 15th, 2020, organized by Amplitudo and Amplitudo Academy. Experts from the region and the world will gather in one place, to lay the foundations of the gaming industry in Montenegro and announce the first Montenegrin Esports event, MontEsports, whose organization is planned for the second half of 2021.

 

MeetUp participants will be experts from leading global and regional companies in this field, who will discuss the organization and concept of Esports events, their importance, and results, then trends and statistics and how we can get involved in current industry trends. We will find out what the process of creating the first Montenegrin game looks like. The topic will be an education in the field of game development, but also its application in various models of education, as well as the artistic aspect of its production.

 

Speakers and panelists include:

 

  • William Le Voir-Barry, technical director of sports and video games at IBM. Headquartered in the United States, they are the leading information technology company with the largest number of patents in the field;
  • Luke Hoffman, EA sports. EA sports is a brand of Electronic Arts, a global leader in digital interactive entertainment, with more than 300 million registered players worldwide. EA is also recognizable by brands such as The Sims, FIFA, Battlefield, Need for Speed, Dragon Age, etc.;
  • Peter Warman, CEO of Newzoo. This gaming and sports analytics company is one of the world's most cited sources whose research and statistics help some of the world's largest entertainment, technology, and media companies target their audiences, track competitors, spot opportunities and make strategic and financial decisions;
  • Martin Kadinov, TDB Play - a successful Bulgarian company engaged in electronic sports and gaming;

 

Zvonimir Mikšić and Dominik Cvetkovski (Simora, Croatia) will talk about the challenges in the field of education and the application of video games for these purposes. Guests are also Nikola Cavic (Serbian Association of Video Game Industry), Amila Lagumdzija (British council, Arts for Western Balkans), and Mirko Stanic, one of the creators of the first Montenegrin game Bleak Faith - Forsaken. As special guests and support for the project, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Montenegro, Judy Rising Reinke, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Karren Maddox, will also speak at the event. Nenad Novović, director of the Amplitudo company, and Jelena Janković on behalf of the Amplitudo Academy, which launched the first training for the development and design of video games in Montenegro, will also address the audience on behalf of the organizers.

The project is being realized with the mission of raising awareness about the gaming industry, its launch, and accelerated development, for our country to be placed on the global map of an industry worth over 150 billion dollars. The goal is to create a community and affirm Montenegrin potentials.
